You know, when I moved to the States I hadn't even seen a mole before! But it didn't take long before I was asking anyone, and everyone: "How do YOU get rid of moles?". I didn't really ask it as a question, it was more like a statement, a demand even.
And you can imagine the myriad of responses I got. Barry told me I should put down poison pellets; the little critters will come up and eat them and then go back into their burrows and die. "Well that's all very fine and dandy" said Jim (no kidding, that's the words he used, he's a funny bloke) "but sometimes they don't go back down into their burrows to die, they stay up top and find some other hidey hole to die and that might very well be under your house!". What the heck! I ain't climbing under my house to deal with no dead mole. And then he tells me that the pellets might get eaten by my dog or some other harmless critter. Now Tess, (that's my dog) I have to admit, is a bit of a big, dopey dooffus; but she's MY big, dopey dooffus and I wasn't too happy at the thought of her eating some poison AND then going under the house to die. I had even less inclination to climb under the house and pull out a dead body if that dead body was hers!
Okay so I got other responses like, drown them, gas them, trap them, spray them, shoot them... my little mind couldn't cope with all the options! So instead, I took the easy way out. Bought a book by a guy claiming he had THE solution to my demands of: "how do you get rid of moles" for GOOD. Let's see if he's really all that...
